In a word: No (in my opinion).

Canada shouldn’t boycott the Winter Olympics in Russia because of the anti-gay legislation passed in that country. It wouldn’t be fair to our young athletes who have worked so hard to earn places on Canada’s teams.

And besides, there are plenty of other countries that discriminate against LGBT people, and Canada still does business with them, and still competes against them in the Olympics.

Our athletes should hold their heads high, and compete . . . and use Canadians’ anger over Russia’s human rights violation as motivation to trounce Russian hockey teams.

Smiles . . .

And maybe carry a rainbow flag during the closing ceremonies.

Yes, Canadian athletes should compete. They shouldn’t have to pay for the human rights violations of Russia.

Go get ’em, Canada!
