As I mentioned in an earlier post — which I have withdrawn for now while I do some research — I have found my personal comfort levels for social nudism/naturism: outdoor settings in nature, such as by the lake and at the beach; and indoor swim and hot tub events, especially the hot tub. I wouldn’t dream of wearing a bathing suit in a hot tub. Then, of course, there’s soaking up the sunshine while lounging on my deck. And, yes, I will continue to be a nude model, if the opportunities present themselves.
I know that some people are advocates of social nudism in more settings. How about you? What are your comfort levels, or parameters, in social nudism/naturism settings?

In addition resorts and clubs or a gathering in private home of friends would be comfortable. Definitely not where it is considered illegal.

In appropriate locations, at my home with a pool, hot tub (you’re welcome to visit), volleyball and other amenities I’m always comfortable. One afternoon as the gathering started, there were 5 gentlemen and me. As the event continued it started welcoming other ladies. I am also comfortable in lakes, rivers, friends’ homes, nudist clubs, beaches, and resorts where we would not offend others.
I have even painted parts of my home (outside) sans clothing. Walking to the mailbox, I do wear something if only a long shirt or pareo (sarong).

Imagine a society where to be nude is to show respect to others. Your nudity being a sign of your humility and openness. So can you imagine that taking your clothes off when you visit a place would be a sign of respect? In that world, clothing would only be what you wear from one place to the other to protect yourself from the elements. That would be a world where the values of naturism have been firmly ingrained. But in the meantime, it is not surprising that being nude in some activities are more comfortable to you than other. The closer they are to textile-world activities where you are normally nearly nude anyway (swimming, sauna, hot tub, sunning, etc…) the more emotionally comfortable they are. But when you stray into areas where clothing is an important part of textile traditions (e.g. dinner party) you get much more cognitive dissonance generated because of what you have been taught all your life.

Good for you Jillian. You shouldn’t have to exceed your comfort level in anything you do. I, like you, have also found my place, much like yours. I have no shame in getting naked at appropriate times, but getting naked just to be a gung ho nudist is a little silly. I decided to spend as much of my day as possible naked, but you know what? No matter how well insulated and how well heated our homes are here in Canada, if your nipples stand out and/or your pecker hides and you have goosebumps all over, well maybe you shouldn’t be naked. Here’s how I’m coping, nice warm wooly socks,a really warm dressing robe, a decent fire in the fireplace, a good book or favourite movie on the screen and a glass of port. I’m wrapped up and warm and still naked underneath.

I had the wood stove going this weekend. I don’t mind the snow so much — I just hate driving in it. Plus, I get stuck in the city sometimes because the country roads aren’t cleared.
All in all, winter sucks!

Yes, winter sucks but… on a cold winters night shovelling snow at your country place… cold crisp night… crunchy snow underneath… your breath in the air before you… moonlight sparkles on the snow… the wood smoke hangs in the air… the dead stillness of the night… the sky lit up with a billion stars… the light from the windows of you home beckon you to come inside and warm you frozen fingers… open the door, the creak the crunch, the smell of a hot meal in your runny nose…the sound of your special person welcoming you home…. the sparking fire in the fireplace… the warm drink in your hand… the comfort safety and peace… the taste of your lovers lips… ahh, winter ain’t all that bad.

I am comfortable in a social naturist setting and also in my home and garden. I really do not mind being nude in front of people, providing I cause no embarrassment. I would not wish to be naked in front of those people I know are anti naturism, as this would only be uncomfortable for them as well as me. Posing for an art class would be fine but I might find being still for long periods less than easy.

Social comfort and physical comfort are different issues. Certainly, any time you’re in a place where it’s too cold to be comfortable naked, then wear something.
Social comfort is a more interesting issue. If one has had any experience being naked with others (besides close friends or family), then it’s a little hard to understand why one couldn’t be naked comfortably in most gatherings where one is pretty confident that everyone else is tolerant of nudity. Especially if most of the others are also naked. I’d think, Jillian, that this would apply especially to most people who’ve done nude modeling.
I can also understand some exceptions to this rule. For instance, if there’s a very pronounced gender imbalance in the group, or it’s a group of people where one isn’t able to know about their tolerance for nudity. Another exception might be if one has body acceptance issues. But I’d be very interested to hear about other reasons people might have for being uncomfortable naked in a group of others who are mostly naked.
Another point is that there is value in deliberately venturing, gradually, a little outside one’s comfort zone. This is how the zone can eventually be expanded.

I look to be nude at home and have answered the door as such. I am usually comfortable being nude at the beach, nude resort, traditional nude locations. I am most comfortable in the art setting and then I am usually the only one without chlothing
