The art of deadpan news delivery

I have to hand it to on-air news anchors who manage to keep a straight face when reporting stories like the other one out of the Quebec Liberal camp on Monday.

First Liberal MNA Henri-François Gautrin predicted that the PQ would win a spring election, possibly with a majority. Yes, you read that correctly: A Liberal predicted a PQ win.

Then, hours later, he backtracked, and predicted a Liberal victory if a spring election is held, according to a CTV Montreal report late Monday night.

Kudos to Paul Karwatsky of CTV Montreal for keeping aforementioned straight face when reporting this story. Somehow I don’t think I could have managed it; I burst out laughing when I heard it.
