(As posted to my Gazette blog)
“A police video of Justin Bieber giving a urine sample for a drug test after his arrest on driving under the influence and other charges was released by prosecutors Thursday, with sensitive portions blacked out as ordered by a judge,” the Associated Press is reporting.
Say what? What manner of madness is this?! I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a similar video being made public — of anyone, celebrities or non-celebrities.
How is it in the public interest?
It might not be a legal invasion of privacy, but it sure seems like a moral invasion of privacy to me.
Apparently, the video was released in response to a request by The Associated Press and other news organizations.
Really?
Ohmygawd . . .
The really sad thing about this is the video is going viral, and some news outlets are no doubt linking to it.
I could make jokes about yellow journalism, but this is no laughing matter.
It’s a disgrace. The video should never have been released.
A sad day for journalism, and a real invasion of Justin’s privacy.

The media needs a wrist slap here. There is no way that this should be public info.
