Lesbian penguins a first for Ireland

Something to smile about . . .

There are several cute reports saying that Ireland’s first lesbian penguin couple have set up nest together in a public aquarium there.

This is so sweet.

I’m pointing you to the version on the Pink News site because there are some good reader comments accompanying the report, including this one from someone signed as mikhattan:

I wish all those sanctimonious homophobic bible thumpers could see this, they probably would think twice before calling homosexuality “unnatural”.

Right on!

  1. I like Edward’s comment on that article “By 1999, zoologists had observed homosexual behaviour in almost 1500 species besides homo sapiens, and today the number may be higher.” That looks like it was taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexual_behavior_in_animals (not that I am objecting).

Homosexuality was seen as the norm in ancient Greece (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_in_ancient_Greece). Times change, but people don’t.

It isn’t for me, but why should I – or anyone else – say that, because it is not what interests me it should be banned to those that does appeal to? “Vive la difference.”
