Check out this classy gesture by the folks in Pittsburgh tonight, where the Penguins were playing the Flyers. Usually, they wouldn’t play the Canadian national anthem before the game if there isn’t a Canadian team playing. But they did tonight, no doubt, to show their support for Canadians after the terrible incident in Ottawa today.

We should have joined long ago. Perhaps our similarities and differences might have forged a better nation encompassing the best of both. Not gonna happen now, but it still seems silly sometimes that we folk of identical origin (except the French part, of course!) are not one.
Canada is now truly part of the global community, as we here discovered on 9-11; there’s no distancing from terrorism anymore. Sorry to say, welcome to the club.
