Many in Quebec have been mourning the death of the great Jean Béliveau this past week.

For international readers: Jean was a legendary player for the Montreal Canadiens hockey team. He was on 10 Stanley Cup-winning teams, and he scored more than 500 goals in his career. After he retired in 1971, he went on to become an ambassador for the team, and was much loved for his public activities. Jean died last week at the age of 83.
So beloved was he that the province is giving him a state funeral on Wednesday, which will be covered live on national Canadian television.
I invite my readers here to share their memories of this great man.

Steve, dear friend, it has nothing to do with you. There have been some attacks behind the scenes here. I always respect your opinion, even if I disagree with you. And likewise for you, I’m sure.
