As the global dragnet for ISIS operatives spreads, there are reports today of arrests made in Turkey and the United States of people who gained entry into those countries as refugees.

Naturally, these arrests will spur calls for better screening processes. But one article I read yesterday quoted a security agent as saying there is no foolproof screening method, that although the risk of ISIS operatives entering Canada with Syrian refugees is low, it is still a possibility.

Yet, the Liberal government of Canada and some provincial leaders are determined to fulfill Justin Trudeau’s election campaign pledge to bring in 25,000 Syrian refugees within the next month or so.

I don’t think Trudeau should feel that he has failed Canadians if he doesn’t live up to that promise, in light of all the new information coming in daily. Trudeau is being urged to go slow on this. It would seem to be the prudent thing to do.

If he doesn’t slow down and things go badly for Canada later — if ISIS operatives do get in with the refugees — Trudeau must bear full responsibility for whatever terrorism they inflict upon the population of this country. At the very least, he would have to step down from office.
