I wish I could say I have special memories of my mom, but I was separated from my parents at the age of 5 and missed out on most of the experience of being raised by them. Which may not have been such a bad thing, given that they were less than fit to be raising kids.

But years later as a teenager, when I had a chance to speak with my birth mother, she told me how much she despised her own mom and how her childhood had been so miserable.

Which is all to say that not everyone has happy memories of their mothers.

But from what I am reading and hearing these days, in the week before Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14, most people have good memories of mom and, if she is still alive, will do something special for her this weekend.

Others, whose moms have passed on, may mark the occasion somehow, such as by writing something about their moms, as many have done in articles on various media sites.

How about you? Will you honour thy mother on Sunday? How will you pay tribute to her?

Do you have memories, pleasant or otherwise, of your mom that you would like to share with readers?
