Toasting the New Year: What’ll it be?

Will you be bringing in the New Year with a toast on Sunday night? If so, what beverage will be in your glass?



Hard liquor?


Or a non-alcohol beverage?

Personally, my drink of choice will be my favourite wine of 2017.

No, not a Portuguese wine, though they would take positions 2, 3 and 4 of my year’s faves.

This year’s top honour goes to California’s Cupcake Vineyards and, in particular, its Black Forest Decadent Red.

This wine lives up to its label: It is decadently delicious, “dripping with rich, deep flavours . . .”

  1. To me and my wife, it has to be Champagne (or sparkling wine). it could be Champagne from France or equally good and sometimes better sparkling wines from the Finger Lakes in New York or even sparkling wines from California.
