While there is something (good) to be said for social nudism in semi-private indoor settings like swimming pools, it doesn’t compare to nudism in the great outdoors. I love the freedom of being able to literally chuck it all while strolling along a nudist beach or sitting in the shade of trees by a lake. Those are my two favourite nudism/naturism activities.

What about you? What are your favourite naturism settings?

I love the outdoors. My favourite is standing naked under a starlit sky in the winter, outside a sauna. Knowing that there’s nothing in between you and the universe. Preferably shared with friends and/or family.

Hiking nude is wonderful, feeling the sun, shade and breeze on you entire body as you do so. Skinny dipping and picnicking at a non nudist lake and taking nuddy pics while doing so. Great fun ! 😉

First thing when waking up, sitting on our main deck with a cup of coffee or at the end of the day with a glass of wine, really is de-stressing for me. Enjoying our new outdoor pool or hot tub watching nature around me,and the beautiful flowers seems as if my batteries are being recharged. Even scooping out accumulated leaves in the pool doesn’t seem like work. Building a deck didn’t seem too much like work or putting up new handrails at our back door as well. I even enjoy mowing the lawn as long as I can do in clothes-free.

Going sans clothing at the beach, a lake, or in the woods (look out for chiggers and mosquitoes) is the ultimate. You feel like you are connected to Mother Nature, and the Universe, with a feeling of awe and contentment. It’s a spiritual experience, unattainable in a church or synagogue.

Outdoors easily. I start the day off (everyday summer or winter) by getting up and going out into the morning. Later the stuff I have to do outdoors is usually clothesfree. I am just in a normal suburban block.

Camping in the woods nude, by a stream deep enough for skinny dipping, with nude hikes along the trails are what I do as often as I can every summer.

I am a lifelong naturist, since I was a child, and I wouldn’t change my lifestyle for anything,it is so easily adjusting from the very first moment you feel the natural air and breeze on oneself, I basically live nude as much as I can. I have regularly attended to beaches, either designated and non-designated,but I am always respectful. I have attended to many clubs too, mainly in UK. And I have once worked at naturist village in France, which was much fun,and certainly saved on laundry bills. AC

Just spent this afternoon at Gunnison Beach/Sandy Hook NJ USA with several hundred others – both with and without textiles. Was a wonderful and free feeling time.

I love hiking or running in the woods/wilderness. I wear a short kilt fastened with velcro. Then when I see others I can cover up quickly before they see me…not that I care if they see me, I just don’t want to disturb anyone else or make anyone else feel uncomfortable. We just finished 6 days in the high Sierra and it was glorious. I hiked to the top of a mountain naked and it was spectacular.

Anything I do I enjoy more, or tolerate more, when I’m nude. In the enjoyment category: cooking, socializing, kayaking/canoeing, swimming, hiking, relaxing at a lake; tolerate better when nude: painting (for a living), housework, yardwork, barn work, etc.

    Hi Jillian
Anywhere in the open is just fine. Sometimes it is the thrill of being discovered au naturel that makes the occasion special. When strangers accept one’s nakedness it makes one happy. Let us make nudity the new norm.

Given where I live, I have to restrict my outings to just walking around my backyard at night. But damn those mosquitoes! They are the worst. I was out for all of five minutes tonight before I came inside due to bites all around my ankles, calves, and back. I also went hiking nude once. It wasn’t a nude-friendly trail, and I didn’t plan it very strategically, so I was definitely seen. As it was my first such outing, I didn’t handle it very well. But then I tried again that night because it was beginning to rain. No-one saw me because everyone else left the trail, and it was really relaxing. It was raining so hard that it felt like I was taking a shower outside. I got a tick bite, but it came out easily and wasn’t a problem.

But yeah, what the hell do you do about mosquitoes?

      one of the benefits of having 2 1/2 secluded acres in the jungle on the north shore of maui; most of the land is a dry creek; then my property is boarded by 100+ acres of state land, so makes it feel even larger and more private…. have made trails throughout… after a year or so, the mosquitoes ignore me; friends use “skin so soft”,though that does not alwayz work… o}

I prefer the outdoors anytime. Not a big fan of the “resorts” as I have found most resorts to be too remote and distant for enjoyment.

I take to the edge of some of the beaches around here, or if no one is there, glory in the owning thereof! Running, wading, building castles. I’ve walked up mountains in the Adirondacks naked, even climbing a lookout tower at the top of one. Trails, lakes, kayaking, all better in the buff. So amazed that few seem to get that!

Every morning I smoke a cigarette, drink coffee, and peruse the news on my tablet sitting on my back porch. I’m usually up early enough that I can witness the sunrise without neighborly accompaniment.

However, you are correct, Jillian, there is something different about the “great outdoors.” My vacation to summer camp the summer of 2014 was my first at a campground.

I’ve written and spoken about the experience of my first morning there previously and still I cannot capture the quiet bliss of the experience. I woke, took a moment to remember where I was, grabbed my cigarettes, and strolled the maintenance lane that surrounds every campground I’ve ever seen.

The air was slightly chilled and still, the sun was warm, and silence ruled. The birds must have exhausted themselves greeting the dawn while the squirrels found us men too tedious to bother with. The other men I passed spoke in whispered rumbles to each other. All else seemed infinite.

The vastness of space I could have occupied bespoke of just how small I really am. I was exquisitely aware of my nudity (mostly my backside – odd, that) while in a place dedicated to suchness. Interdependence is the backbone of Dharma and I don’t remember having a realization of such intensity as to how much I cannot grasp its true meaning as that morning.

Wherever I can go and stay in the nude is fine with me, but what I love the most so far is to step into the woods, be it flatlands or mountains, and lost myself naked through the morning mist, feeling the sunlight beams that get to the ground through the canopy, smelling the moist soil as my bare feet step on it, listening to the hidden fauna, and finally getting to a creek or pond to jump into…
