Sometimes I think bisexuality is the hardest road of all when it comes to sexual orientation issues. If I am in a relationship with a woman (which I am), people assume I am a lesbian. If I am in a relationship with a man (which I was before my current relationship), people assume I am a heterosexual.
In truth, I don’t really care all that much what people think, but bisexuality is so often overlooked in the LGBTQ scheme of things. Pride events are mostly abouts gays and lesbians. It doesn’t seem there is any real celebration of bisexuality. No, it’s not necessary . . . I’m just sayin’ . . .
Then there is the misconception that bisexuals can’t be monogamous, that we have to jump into bed with both sexes, as if we are all swingers. Of course we can be monogamous, even if some of us (moi) are polyamorous at heart — polyamory and bisexuality are not synonymous terms. I’m monogamous because my partner is and wants a monogamous relationship, and I love her and respect her enough to honour that.
I do confess, though, that as a bisexual person, the thought of a tumble in the proverbial hay now and then with a big, strong guy is appealing, but that occasional desire just reconfirms what I am — a proud bisexual.

Of course bisexuality is harder… it doubles your chances of being shot down in flames.

Hope I’m not interrupting something *ahem* … I’d say that being a bi male is pretty tricky. There’s a vicious cycle here. Lots of gay men distrust bi men. So do many straight women, in addition to the visceral biphobia which common among them. These two encourage bi men to stay in the closet, which further feeds the cycle…

Forget the spurious labels. Let’s just have “sexy” and “unsexy”, as in “I like sexy people”.
