(As posted to my Gazette blog)
Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway announced he won’t appeal a judge’s decision granting legal recognition to same-sex couples married in other jurisdictions, which in effect strikes down part of the state’s ban on gay marriage.
Conway’s reason: “I would be defending discrimination. That I will not do.” (See Associated Press report on The Gazette site.)
But apparently, Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has no such qualms. He has announced that the state will hire outside attorneys to appeal the judge’s decision.
Sigh . . .
You gotta wonder about of abuse of power and abuse of taxpayers’ dollars.
I’m striking Kentucky off my list of potential vacation destinations for now . . .

Hopefully one day, in the not too distant future, we will all look back on this nonsense with a sense of relief, glad that it is all over. I am not planning on holding my breath until then, though
