Recently in my Gazette blog, I asked for comment from the children of same-sex parents. There hasn’t been much response, so I doubt I will be exploring the subject much further.
But in the course of taking a look at the subject, I became aware of another term that seems to be gaining traction in the United States, if not in Canada: “LGBT extremism.”
As you may know, there is a slugfest going on in the U.S. between some LGBT activists and some anti-LGBT activists. Not surprisingly, it can be pretty ugly at times.
But as a journalist, I am curious about the extent of so-called “LGBT extremism.” I want to know if our side — because I am a member of the LGBT community, too — is doing anything wrong in its quest for equal civil rights in that country, and other countries, too. Are some LGBT activists crossing the line?

The start of a new, subliminal narrative by conservative extremists to equate the LGBT community with, oh I don’t know, how about terrorism?

What line? There shouldn’t be a line when it cones to rights. So no. On the other hand, you don’t want to appear to be nuttier than the conservative ‘extremists’.

There was a Facebook post the other day about a group of anti-LGBT activists protesting at a pro-LGBT rally. It had something to do with the pro-LGBT group protesting an anti-LGBT store’s decision to not wanting to serve the LGBT community. It was very interesting to read the comments. If I can find it again I’ll post the link.

One person’s extremist (aka terrorist) is another person’s freedom fighter. The deciding factor is whether they win or not. History is written by the winners
