I had no sooner written the preceding post last Saturday when just hours later, a vicious storm extending 300 kilometres in length tore through this area uprooting trees, crumpling hydro transmission towers and downing hydro poles along with the lines.
Net result: On Thursday, we still do not have electricity here, which is why I have been absent online all week.
Today, I got notification from wordpress that someone is trying to hack my account here.
So, if anything unusual or uncharacteristic of me should appear in your inbox allegedly from me, you’ll know what’s up.
Meanwhile, I am taking some steps.

I think that was the same storm that earlier sent a tornado thru Gaylord, MI. Hardly ever get tornadoes up there.

Yes, WP does offer two-factor authentication. As for the storm, they are saying it was the worst one since the 1998 ice storm. I actually doubt that. This storm passed by in 30 seconds, whereas the 1998 ice storm came in waves over 5 days.

We certainly are dependent on the electrical grid. The power came back on last night, thankfully.
I live in a region that experiences several power outages per year, so I am quite prepared for them. But it is still a nuisance, especially when they extend to 5 days or like this one, 7 days.

If I lost power that often, I would buy a General Standby generator. It cost about $2,000 installed and provides power as long as you have natural gas or propane.
